Degree Granting Conditions

             
               
         

The institute works in close collaboration with the faculty of post-graduate studies, preparing students for being granted the degrees of higher diploma, master and Ph.D in public administration.

   

Diploma in Public Administration
 

The candidate must be a bachelor degree holder in the university of Khartoum or other equivalent universities. The degree is granted upon the completion of one year course work, passing an examination in all courses and submitting a written paper.

   

Master of Public Administration

 

The candidate must have a higher diploma in public Administration from the institute or other equivalent institutions with an average minimum of 60% of exam results. Students with honurs degree in public administration are also eligible candidates. They will spend one academic year, taking courses in public administration and sitting a final examination that they are required to pass. In addition, they are also required to prepare a partial fulfillment thesis to be accepted by a supervisor and passed by a board of examiners.

   

Ph. D. in public Administration
 

The Ph.D degree in Public administration is awarded by research alone. The candidate is not required to take or pass course examinations. However, to be eligible for a Ph.D programme the student must have a master’s degree in public administration from Khartoum University or other equivalent universities. To be accepted for thesis preparation the student must submit a convincing research proposal, which has to meet two requirements. First, it must be on public administration. Secondly, it must reflect the candidate’s competence in the area of study. He will need to convince at least three assessors of that competence. The research itself will then last for at least three years of intensive work under a qualifier supervisor or supervisors before it is to be passed by a board of examiners.
