The School of
Management Studies
began in 1958 as the Department of Business Administration, one of
the departments of the Faculty of Economic and Social Studies. In
1970, a Department of Accounting was added to the Faculty. These
departments - in addition to a Department of Public Administration -
developed into an independent School in 1987, named The School of
Management Studies. |

The School is located at the main campus of the University. |

Teaching
Staff: |

The School has (13) staff members with the following status:
(1) Professor
(4) Associate Professors
(2) Assistant Professors
(6) Lecturers
The School also
has (1) teaching assistant. |

|
|
Students: |
|
|
The
number of students at the School (1997-98) was (547) among whom (44)
students were foreign students. In 1996-97, (132) students
graduated from the School. Since 1961 to the present, (8) students
were awarded the Ph.D. degree, (142) students the M.Sc. degrees and
(633) Post Graduate Diplomas. |

The Library: |
|
|
|
The
Library of the School contains about (7,000) books and it
accommodates approximately (160) students. It caters to the
needs of the B.Sc. and Postgraduate students, in addition to
members of the staff. |

|
|
|
Activities: |
|
|
|
Members of
the staff and students of the School have participated in
providing expert studies in the various specialization of the
School, particularly in Globalization, Systems of Management
Information, and Management Development in the Third World. They
have also conducted research on the impact of International
Competition on Local Industries. |

|
|
The activities of the School also include: |

Expert consultancy in the fields of Management and Accounting, such as
production, marketing, financing and the development of
human resources for both the public and private sectors. |

School publishes the Khartoum Journal of Management Studies,
in both the Arabic and English Languages. |

Cultural
Relations: |
|
|
|
The School maintains close cultural relations with European and
Arab
Universities, among them the University of Science and
Technology in Yemen and Humbolt University in Germany. |
