Evaluation Regulations
- Evaluation of students is based on continuous assessment of:
 
1- the semester's work and
2- examination.
   
- The course grade point is calculated as follows:
 

Grade point = (Mark %)/10

The student performance is rated according to the point grading scheme shown below

- Marking should be to the nearest whole number.
- The pass mark for both semesters work and examination is 40%. A student failing in one of them yet scoring above 40% in total is given grade F with grade point calculated as % over.
- At the end of each session the Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated for each student.
- To get grade D, the student should score at least 30% in the semester work and/or examination
- The sectional GPA is calculated as follows

  N = number of the course in the session
   
- The Weighted Cumulative GPA (WCGPA) is calculated as follows
 

 
(GPA)1 = GPA First Year (GPA)2 = GPA Second Year (GPA)3 = GPA Third Year
(GPA)4 = GPA Fourth Year (GPA)5 = GPA Fifth Year  
   
   

Assessment Regulations

 
1- Assessment of results is done at the end of the session .
2- In calculation of GPA supplementary examinations- are considered as added courses, but a repeat year grades are not included in calculation of WCGPA.
3- Minimum grade point for passing a course is 4.00 points
4-

Minimum sessional GPA to proceed to the succeeding stage is 4.50, failing to obtain a such GPA, the student may be allowed to repeat.

5-

The maximum number of repletion is two (excluding the first year). No student is allowed to repeat the same stage twice.

6- A student who scores a GPA less than 3.5 may be asked to withdraw (dismissed)
7- A student who scores a GAP less than 4.50 but greater or equal to 4.30 may be allowed to proceed to succeeding stage with a WARNING.
8- A student who fails to raise his/her WCGPA up to 4.50 the following year, after the first warning, may be asked to repeat the year.
9- The maximum number of warning is two for the whole B. Sc. course. A student who fails to raise his/her WCGPA after the second warning may be asked to withdraw.
10-

A student failing in one course only may be allowed to proceed without taking supplementary examination if he/she scores grade D (conditional fail pass) in that subject and with GPA greater than or equal to 4.50.

11-
a- For first, third and fourth year, a student failing in not more than four courses, may be allowed to sit for supplementary examinations in those courses.
b-

For second year, a student failing in not more than five courses, may be allowed to sit for supplementary examinations in those courses.

c- For fifth year, a student failing in not more than three courses, may be allowed to sit for supplementary examinations in those courses.
12-
a-

For first, third and fourth year, a student scoring a GPA above or equal 4.5 yet failing five courses, with at least one of them with grade D, may be allowed to take supplementary examinations in four courses only. The student is not required to take supplementary examinations in the fifth course in which he/she obtained grade D.

b-

For second year, a student scoring a GPA above or equal 4.5 yet failing five courses, with at least one of them with grade D, may be allowed to take supplementary examinations in four courses only. The student is not required to take supplementary examinations in the fifth course in which he/she obtained grade D.
 

13- A student having a GPA above 4.5 and yet failing one course after supplementary, with grade D, may be allowed to proceed with out repeating the year; provided the student did not take advantage of 11 above
14- A student having a GPA above 4.5 and yet failing one or more course after supplementaries, may be allowed to resite for these course.
15- For first, second, third and fourth year the divisions in the Pass list are to be decided in accordance with

15- For fifth year the divisions in the Pass list are to be decided in accordance with

First Class Honours

External Students

1-

A student dismissed from the Faculty for the first time (on academic basis) may be allowed to sit externally. Maximum number of trials to re-enter the Faculty is:
- TWO in the first, second and third year
- THREE in the fourth year

2- A student dismissed from the Faculty for the second time (on academic basis) is not eligible to External Examination at ALL
3- An external student who fails in one or two subjects with grade D may be passed subject to approval of Faculty Board,
