Introduction: |

The
University Council in its meeting on 26/3/1993
recommended the creation of an alumni council to build
links between the university and its graduates and so
that the society could benefit from the expertise abound
in the university. In December 1994 the Vice -
Chancellor of the University issued decision No. (23/94)
to establish an alumni administration. |

| |
Concomitant with this was establishment
of the University of Khartoum Graduates Union as a
natural development of the “University Call Project”,
i.e Nafir, that established a firm relationship
between the university and its graduates. An interim
Council of the Union was created headed by the Hon.
Justice Abel Alier together with an executive committee
chaired by Dr. Ismail Al Haj Musa. On 12/10/2002
Engineer Kamal Ali Mohammed – Chairman of the University
Council-issued the basic regulations for the Graduates
Affairs Administration (GAA) making the administration
an official body founded on regulations commensurate
with the university ordinances and regulations and is
accountable before the university administration and
councils in executing the tasks within its area of
competence. |

Objectives: |

Create the climate for the interaction between
the graduate and the university and among
alumni. |

Link the graduate to the
university and establish stronger sense of
belonging. |

3- |
Keep a comprehensive record of
graduates to be regularly updated. |
|

Mobilize alumni to support the
university and in solving its problems. |
|
5- |
Strengthen the ties between
alumni. |
|

The Board of Directors: |

Although the GAA is under the office of
the Vice –Chancellor it has nonetheless a Board to
discuss and approve the work programs submitted by the
management. It also approves the budget, assists in its
implementation and follow up the implementation of
approved programs. |

publication of the first issue of the “Graduate” on
22/1/2004 coinciding with the festivities of the
Graduates Week. The news paper is electronically
available at the GAA website. |

Graduates are welcome to contribute to the
newspaper. Please send contributions, news of
the graduates and their activities by the post
or by e-mail. The paper is published quarterly. |

The services of the Graduate House: |
| |
The Graduates House is located at the
northern section at the intersection of the Jamhouria
and Africa streets. It has been built by fellow
graduates who contributed money and effort. It also has
a cafeteria and a gym (billiard and pin pong) and there
are plans for a library and plays for kids.
